TJ 2.0: Fund the Future

renovationWhy TJ Needs a Capital Campaign

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is in the final planning stages of a complete TJ renovation, which is slated to commence in early 2013, and is expected to cost in excess of $100 million.  Fairfax County is fully committed to the renovation of the school.  Funding for the renovation will be included in the November 2011 bond issue to be put in front of taxpayers, and the design of the renovated building is almost complete.  FCPS funds will not, however, equip the specialized research labs at TJ that make the school unique.  Nor will FCPS funds make TJ the beacon of research methodology that its leaders envision.

How You Can Support the Capital Campaign

TJ 2.0 is the Partnership Fund’s ambitious Capital Campaign aimed at solidifying TJ’s position as the premier research-driven secondary school in the nation. Capital Campaign funds will be used to supply the research equipment and technology needed by a twenty-first century school environment – one that is inquiry-based, interdisciplinary, collaborative, open, amenable to replication, and yet secure.

With its announcement of a planned 5-year, $250,000 contribution, Lockheed Martin has already signed on as the first TJ 2.0 Founding Partner.  Parents, alumni and other individuals have already begun to make leadership gifts to support the Capital Campaign.  There are many ways that gifts can be structured, and a limited number of naming opportunities are available.  We urge all corporate representatives and individuals interested in supporting the Capital Campaign to contact the Partnership Fund Office for details.
