"Why do we do it? We do it for our kids. We want them to have the greatest education possible." Like their children, parents of Thomas Jefferson students and graduates excel in their commitments to education.

TJ parents show their appreciation for the world-class education their children are receiving, and support the programs and activities that make TJ a very special learning community.

The Parent Committee is a standing committee of the Jefferson Partnership Fund's Board of Directors. The Committee provides leadership in organizing initiatives that expand and enhance parent and alumni parent support. Interested parents serve as representatives for each current class and for TJ’s alumni parents. Key activities of the Parent Committee include the Annual Year-End Campaign, a parent-to-parent phonathon, and parent education and outreach.

The Jefferson Partnership Fund is fortunate to have the support of so many parents. Their generous gifts of time, their financial support, and their willingness to serve on the Parents Committee as enthusiastic ambassadors for Jefferson are invaluable.

In the 2006-2007 academic year, current and alumni parents contributed over $230,000 to the Jefferson Partnership Fund and set a new record for Jefferson parent support. A majority of the gifts were designated to the Jefferson Innovation Fund.

Unrestricted giving sustains Jefferson's spirit of innovation in mathematics, science and technology education. It gives TJ the freedom and the flexibility to respond to new ideas, and seize new opportunities. As we work to advance educational excellence at TJ, unrestricted gifts will help get us from where we are today to where we need to be tomorrow.

Unrestricted gifts go directly toward solving Jefferson's most pressing needs. They create opportunities. They keep Jefferson's great program of learning—teaching and research alike—moving forward in the development of "best practices." And they are invaluable to Jefferson's "margin of excellence."
